It started out as a little fighting experience, as evidenced by the almost playfulness of the event, first one, banging in, then the other, then both backing off, looking around at the rest of the males. But after 15 minutes of the back and forth, the antlers banging harder and harder, it was obvious that one was going to come out on top of the other, and be leader of the males in the herd. And of the females. Oh, lordy! What a prize! Almost wish I could show some video of this match! If you purchase a large photo of this, I may be able to send you a snippet of a portion of the video. Impalas at their best today. Such beautiful animals.
