The Eye of London (or London Eye) is a fantastic ride, taking nearly 30 minutes to make one round trip. The glass bubble you step into has seating and a tremendous 360 degree view of London from up to 443 feet above the Thames River. You get views of the Parliament, Big Ben Tower and Clock, and rooftops across the cityscape. From near the top, the view reminds one of the scenes from the Disney movie, "Mary Poppins" with the cranes, rooftops, smokestacks and so on. At the base a menagerie of events often take place, with clowns, painters, balloon blowers, singers, mimes, ... An absolutely wonderful venue! Thank you London!
I am a former educator, having spent 40 years in Nebraska and Iowa as a teacher, counselor, and school psychologist. In 2006 I returned to my love of art and began shooting nature, landscape, wildlife, and weddings. I loved the midwestern states but have also enjoyed traveling across the US and international locations. Taking photos of the special visions I saw prompted many of these photos. You will see shots in Iowa, California, Montana, Wyoming in the US and shots from Italy, Greece, the Philippines, Great Britain, Germany and so on in this portfolio. I like the centered composition, largely symmetrical with enough asymmetrical elements in the buildings and boats to keep the interest, as well as the soft glow this has - gives it a dreamy feel which seems appropriate for a subject like this which, for many, is nostalgic and brings back memories.
