Mt. Kilimanjaro is the tallest freestanding mountain in Africa, AND in all the world, standing at 5891.8 meters or 19,330 ft. (most accurate estimate from 2008). It stands in the country of Tanzania in East Africa, but very close to the Kenyan border. It is snow-capped all year long, and is an oft-trekked mountain, taking approximately 7-10 days to traverse it and back.
This view is from the Amboseli National Park area, from a lodge's viewpoint, replete with the acacia tree with its weaver birds' nests. Note that Amboseli is located in Kenya.

I am a former educator, having spent 40 years in Nebraska and Iowa as a teacher, counselor, and school psychologist. In 2006 I returned to my love of art and began shooting nature, landscape, wildlife, and weddings. I loved the midwestern states but have also enjoyed traveling across the US and international locations. Taking photos of the special visions I saw prompted many of these photos.
